Leo Carillo Beach Camping

This is from our family camping trip to Leo Carillo beach in California.  In June.  I know, I'm that behind.
So we got to stay with my brother Ben who lives in LA running an Outdoor Outlet there and living the dream.
Cooper and Cash played legos and took garbage out of the trash and glued it together to make "creations".
Lilsy climbs on anything and everything.
When we first got to the beach it was too cold and too late in the day to play in the water, but we took the kids down anyway to see the beach and what the all fuss was about.  They came back to camp soaking wet, of course.
Our first glimpses of the beach.

Now you're dry.... Now you're wet... welcome to the beach!

Lilsy freaked out when we noticed she was eating sand and pulled her away from it.

I swear that is the same rock/waves where Arial spied on prince Eric.

I think they were playing snails?

Camping baby snuggles!

I wake up and mom and dad are RIGHT HERE! AMAZING!

I must say in my sleep: "hey kids, come jump in my sleeping bag, there is waaay too much room in here for just me and dad."

Marshall was not too sure about the waves.  He found a nice comfy spot on the beach 3 ft away from the parking lot.

He finally warmed up to the beach a little, at least when he noticed the sand.

But he still steered clear of the water.

They played for hours like this.  Leila's bum got sunburned!

Those are my mom's sunglasses from the 90's.

Jesse rockin' the wetsuit.
Hittin the waves!
They pretty much lived on juice boxes and cheetos.
Our camp was about a 1/2 mile away from the beach so we'd bike to the beach in the morning, stay all day till about 2, bike back, take naps, and play in the shade till dinner time.  The kids were so tired they'd zonk out right after dinner, leaving the rest of the evening for us to walk, take a bike ride, or just sit around the fire.  It was THE MOST relaxing vacation I've ever had with kids.
Lilsy found her tongue.

Leila called my cousin Kalon "the nice one" because he was so sweet to her, he even helped her slack-line a little bit :)

He would look, but not touch.  Still!  On like the 3rd day!

home-made swing.

Feeding cheetos to the sea-gulls
Cooper buried his legs.
Lilsy was nothing like Marshall.  She didn't mind the cold water and she would try to run deeper and deeper into the waves, even if she got smashed by a big one she wanted more.

On the very last day of our vacation Marshall notice that Lils loved the waves so he got up the courage to try it.  He kicked at the water for a bit and when he discovered that the wet sand by the water was better for playing with, he was hooked!

Amanda trying to hold Lils back from getting smashed by the waves.

She was happy in water or sand... as long as she could eat it :)
With my girl!
I even borrowed a wet-suit and got pummeled boogie boarded a bit!
My Aunt Jennifer goes every year with her kids and reserves camp-sites 6 months in advance.  I'm pretty sure we're hooked!  It was the best vacation for a family with a small vacation budget!
