Behold, the mighty crawling babe!
Here he is ladies and gentleman! At 7 months Marshall is officially mobile!
He likes following his brother and sister around the house and even follows momma too! He's only been crawling for aobut 2 weeks but pulls himself up on things so easily, and sometimes pulls stuff over on top of himself!
Even though he can crawl, whenever he gets real excited he does this high centered thing where he balances on his belly and kicks out his harms and legs in unison. Try it sometime for a good workout.
Pine Valley snow
Of course we went up the weekend BEFORE all the snow came down, but oh well. There was plenty of snow for our simple purposes of sledding and making snow angels and throwing snow balls... you get the drift (haha). Cooper stayed plenty warm in all his snow gear. We've been under-prepared before and had cold toes and fingers and boy o' boy that is NO fun!
We weren't taking chances this time. Cooper was covered from head to foot, but at least he wasn't cold! (we had snow gear for Leila too, but she was sporting a little cold so we decided it best just to keep her in. She protested, but to keep her happy we played ponies with her and eventually Kevin came up for her to chase around)

Fish Face
You have to wait until close to the end, but it's worth it, trust me.
He does this when I'm chewing my food or talking on the phone. Sometimes I swear he's mocking me.

From here to Phoenix
Chris and Shawn invited us down to Phoenix New Years weekend so we could be there when they blessed their 3 children, including brand new baby Emma. At first I was hesitant... a 6 hour drive drive with 3 small children ( I know, Shawn does it all the time... but STILL!)? It turned out (with the help of a borrowed DVD player and snacks and toys and books) our kids are not so bad... they weathered it relatively well, and lived to tell about it :)
We had a great time staying at their house, the kids played great together and left us to sit and talk as, I'm told, adults do sometimes. We spent Saturday morning at a park near their house which includes a duck/fishing pond. We hadn't brought any bread to feed the ducks so Jesse ran to the nearest store which didn't have any bread, but did have tortillas... ducks can eat tortillas too right?
Notice how Leila is separated from the group? It's a natural phenomenon I'm still trying to figure out... she cares nothing for what other kids may be doing, she marches to the beat of her own drum and observes others with a sort of wonderment. I like think she gets that from me, but I think my seperation from other kids was forced rather than by choice. I think they just didn't get my jokes. Cooper would throw the pieces of tortilla with all the force his little body could produce, only to have the tortilla float down to the water a few inches in front of him. Then he'd try again with the same result. I just think tortillas are not very aerodynamic. Jesse didn't bother ripping out little pieces, he threw one whole tortilla out to the middle of the pond like a frisby.
Marshall got scared of the geese that honked at him and started crying (remember, he's a tender little guy) but after I made a honking noise with my mouth and used my hand as a goose to tickle his belly, he saw it as a game and started giggling when they honked at him. Soon he was content just to watch them float by.
Leila started eating the tortillas. She'd take a big bite out of one and then hold the bitten peice out to the geese and say "here!" They swam away. Poor Leila. I think she fancies herself as one of the princesses in the movies she watches, who are always swathed in multitudes of birds and animals and she can't understand why earthly ones don't want to fawn all over her. It's ok Leila, every human you meet fawns all over you... don't you worry!
The blessings on Sunday were beautiful and their ward was very nice. The dinner Shawn made afterward was wonderful! Oh! I didn't even mention... Shawn sprained her wrist and had it wrapped in a brace the whole time we were there, and a newborn baby, AND she took complete care of us the whole time! Thank you Shawn... we had a wonderful time, and can't wait to come back!
Things to remmeber from the trip:
-Cooper snuck 3 packages of fruitsnacks in addition to the 1 I had already given him and had a tummy ache a few hours later. I showed him the wrappers and said "See? When you eat this many it gives you a tummy ache!" he looked at me with his large innocent eyes and said "I'll just ask Jesus and He'll make it better." I was immediately humbled and all the spite was wiped from my heart. "Ok," I said "lets ask Jesus to make it better."
-We were watching a movie where a man and wife were sitting in bed talking before they went to sleep. I said "See Jesse? Normal people sit and talk before they go to sleep. See how the man isn't passed out and the woman doesn't sit alone and read by herself?" Chris piped in and said "You do that too?! Ha ha!". My dad said: "Wendy likes to go to sleep at night, so we just talk in the morning."
Then Cooper looks over at me perplexed: "Momma, I don't have anyone in my room to talk to."
"It's OK," I said "In a little while Marshall will be big enough to sleep in your room and you can talk to him."
"Oh, OK mom."
(Man! Am I glad I had Marshall so soon after I was prompted to. What would I have said then? "Sorry Coop, I knew I was supposed to have a brother for you, but I really don't like having babies sooo.... you'll just have to be alone for a while...." eeech!)
-We were crossing over Hoover Dam and Cooper looks up at the huge bridge they are constructing and says with obvious fear showing in his voice: "uh... I don't want to go on that one, please lets not go on that bridge!"
This happened before Phoenix but I need to write it down anyway:
-Leila was helping me make chocolate dipped strawberries. I dipped one in the chocolate and offered it to her to eat. She closed her mouth and refused, shaking her head. "Leila it's yummy" I said. "See?" I took a bite.
"No!" she said "Apple!"
"It's not an apple Leila, it's a strawberry. Here." I offered her another one, and again she closed her mouth and shook her head.
"No! 'now white!" She said " 'now white!" (snow white) A light bulb clicked in my brain.
"Leila, these aren't poisoned apples! They're strawberries!"
Ha ha ha, I laughed about that for a long time. She thought we were dipping apples in poison like the witch in Snow White! That little girl is too cute! I finally got her to try a strawberry by first letting her taste the chocolate and then offering her a little bit on a strawberry. I couldn't get here away from them after that.
Also, when Leila blesses the food she says it "dood", makes me laugh every time!

"Daddy's been bad, Santa's gonna bring him coal!"
Actually, Daddy wasn't bad, Cooper just wanted to assert that when you ARE bad Santa DOES bring you coal.
In all actuality Santa didn't bring anyone coal this year, guess we've all been good! As you can see, we all got new Jammies:
Jesse's big present was a membership to Anytime Fitness so he can work out (yes that's right) anytime! My big present was a guitar! I've wanted some sort of instrument to have in the house so I can noodle around and make some sort of music.... Hooray! What shall I learn first? Stairway to Heaven? Maybe some Jimmy Hendrix? I'll be playing like a fiend in no time I'm sure! Merry Christmas everyone!

Those kids.....
Almost every day when Jesse comes home from work I have to fill him in on the funny things the kids have said or done.... they replenish the list daily :)
- The other day Leila squats down by a dead bug in the hallway and says "ewww... BUG!" after a long pause while she looks the bug over carefully she says "Kake up bug! Kake up!" (Wake up bug, wake up!)
- Leila pointed up to the tree and said "da Stah! Da Stah!" (The star! The star!) Cooper said, "Leila, don't you mean donde esta?"
- Cooper was chasing Leila on his trike, she runs into my room, flings herself onto my lap and exclaims, "Momma, Momma! I scare! I scare!" (I think she has a flare for the dramatic)
- We went to our ward dinner at the stake center instead of at our normal church building and as we sat in the gym eating dinner, Cooper looks around and says "Momma, which kind of church is this?"
- As we were getting dressed for the Nativity Cooper looks up at the lady helping us and says, "Are you a MEMBER of the CHURCH?", luckily, she was.
MY Christmas
I know that the actual DAY isn't until Friday. But my Christmas was last night, when, for our ward Christmas party our little family was in the live nativity.
Jesse was Joseph, I played Mary, Marshall played a gigantic baby Jesus, Leila was an angel,
and Cooper was the best little shepherd those baby goats have ever seen.
I think Marshall has some fans, these little angels were completely in love with him!

Leila Belle turns 2!
We started the day by singing to Leila as we opened her door.
She looked at us like we were crazy people.
You gotta love Cooper, he goes along with any cooky plot I cook up and enjoys it. We ran errands while Cooper was at preschool and I almost lost her in Khol's. As I was frantically running around trying to find her (while simultaneously "shushing" a fussy Marshall) she was having the time of her little life in the jewelry section and by the time I found her she had selected her purchases and slung them over her shoulder like a purse.
She had her favorite "fwech wise" and "ka-tup" (french fries and ketchup) for lunch at the burger place and for dinner her other favorite "Pi-da!" (pizza) for dinner.

I thought the princess cake would be a fabulous idea and didn't count on her freaking out because her barbie was in a cake without her dress on... sheesh... I'll have to take that into account next time. She got used to the idea and had no problem eating the barbie's dress.
She got some fabulous presents including: Sleeping Beauty DVD, a Princess Ballerina (from Annie), A Princess Fairy wand (from Elyza), Clothes and a glow-worm baby (from Ben & Tasha), a princess purse (from Nikki & Sam), a fairy tutu (from Candice & Flint), a tote bag with all the essential girly things (from Grandma Monique), and a princess Mirror from Grandma Wendy.
Happy Birthdy Pih-dess... Momma Dadda Love you!

I like my birthdays every one!
Each brings a special joy to me... but I can't wait until I'm 25, for then my car insurance will go down :) Ha ha.... just kidding (but seriously... )
I thought I was just keeping it low key until I made a sum total at the end of the day and man! I did not do too bad! Jesse surprised me with a wheat grinder (It had been beautifully wrapped and sitting in our closet for 3 weeks just staring down at me, my best guess was that it was Rosetta stone, a computer program for learning Spanish) so now I can make wheat bread with freshly ground wheat (it's the healthiest way to go!). My Mother in law, Monique, brought me balloons and flowers (It just doesn't seem like a valid birthday without balloons!).
We went shopping for some new clothes, ate lunch at Fish Rock Grill at the Ledges, and Annie gave me a whole new compact of Mary Kay makeup (wahoo!),
2 new lip colors, a new set of makeup brushes, and a Mary Kay travel bag for makeup. My mom had done some investigating and found out that I really needed a lemon juicer (I have been doing it by hand up until now) and found me a really nice one that strains out all the pulp. When I got home from all the festivities I found that my friend Kelsi left me a box of chocolates and some lavender scented soap and lotion... ah... nothing like chocolate on your birthday! I really can't think of anything that could have made the day better, I LOVE days like that. So now I'm 25 and I don't feel much different, but every so often I think "Whoa, wait, I'm 25? What the? When did THAT happen?"
I have all these cute pictures of the kids on my camera and I NEED to share them (or else why even take them?) This one is of Cooper using his cow as a cape because Leila was using the superman one. They both ran around in their "capes" being super.
Here is Marshall and his mad face when he wouldn't go to sleep one night.
And here is Cooper with Annie and Dave's new puppy (which is now Becca and Alan's new puppy).

Remind me again what kind of stuff that guy says.
if you want to know what kind of stuff that guy says click here.Enough of that, here's the pictures from the veteran's day parade in Washington:

They just came for the candy
Marshall borrowed Grandma Wendy's visor, it kept the sun out of his eyes so he could enjoy the parade like a normal human.

Kids don't care about your mental health
They really don't. I learned this at a parenting class on Sunday. They'll drive you out of your mind just to get a piece of cake. They don't care if you're ripping your hair out and running down the street stark raving mad... as long as they get thier cake. This makes perfect sense to one who has children or has been around them for very long. I snapped these pictures this morning as they sieged my bed (a common practice), they really are not so bad once they stop pinching my eyelids.
